NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, April 28, 1832 Within this issue is an article headed: "Case Of Samuel Houston" which concerns his trial for flogging William Stanberry.
This report is quite lengthy, taking almost 6 pages, with a portion including: "...At the moment of stepping on the side walk Mr. Houston stood before me. I think he called me by my name, and instantly struck me with a bludgeon he had in his hand with great violence & he repeated the blow while I was down; he struck me repeatedly with great violence..." with much more.
There are two more reports on the case of Sam Houston, one near the back taking an additional 5 pages, and another on the front page taking about a full column.
Among other reports in this issue are: "Case of Samuel Houston" taking about a full column; a document signed by both: H. Clay and Daniel Webster, and various reports from Congress.
Complete in 24 pages, 6 by 9 1/4 inches, lite scattered foxing, otherwise in very good condition.
As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
