THE REPUBLICAN ARGUS, Northumberland, Pennsylvania, July 26, 1809  An uncommon title from this small town located at the confluence of the Susquehanna River and the West Branch of the Susquehanna. 
Page 3 has: "General Orders" from hqts. at St. Louis, concerning the Sauc Indians, signed in type: Meriwether Lewis, then governor of Upper Mississippi (the Illinois Country). He would die less than 3 months latter from a gunshot wound, not known if murder or suicide.
Four pages, a few archival mends near the bottom, good condition.
