When it comes to gangsters, organized crime, and the nefarious activities born out of the Prohibition and Great Depression eras, no city is more in the forefront of our minds than Chicago - and what better newspaper can be found than the Chicago Tribune, self-proclaimed to be "The World's Greatest Newspaper" - attributed in part to its dramatic, banner headlines! Whether hanging on your wall or part of an ongoing collection, these events are sure to capture the flavor of this infamous period in American history.
Complete 1st section only wit all 16 pages, light toning and some wear at the margins, generally good. Should be handled with care.
wikipedia notes: In June of 1924, Rondout was the site of the largest train robbery in United States history. Several outlaws, including the "Newton Gang" and a corrupt postal inspector, successfully carried out a robbery of over two million dollars worth of cash, jewelry and securities. All of the conspirators were caught and prosecuted shortly afterwards, and all but $100,000 of the stolen goods were recovered, and a historical marker was built to commemorate the event.
