THE NEW YORK GAZETTE & THE WEEKLY MERCURY, June 12, 1769 Most of the front page is a lengthy essay: "A Whip for the American Whig", which is primarily of a religious nature but does make reference to the Stamp Act, the Sons of Liberty, etc.
Page 2 has several political items from this year before the outbreak of the Revolutionary War, including reference to John Dickinson's "Letters From a Farmer in Pennsylvania".
Page 3 features an uncommonly large illustration headed: "...Descriptive Scheme of the Transit of Venus" with particulars.
Four pages, archivally rejoined at the spine, some minor archival mends at margins, handsome coat-of-arms engraving in the masthead, good condition.
