Terrific issue on the Battle of Bull Run...

Item # 701667

July 22, 1861

THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, July 22, 1861

* Battle of Bull Run - Manassas Virginia VA
* 1st major battle of the American Civil War
* Great issue for display w/ battle map

This is one of the more displayable issues we have found in recent years on the Battle of Bull Run.
The prime feature is a large map headed: "Position Of The Union And Rebel Armies On the Morning of July 21st, before the Victory at Bull's Run, Recorded in our News Columns." The map shows the position of the Union and rebel troops, being a much better map than typically found.
The type in the first column heads is much larger than usually found, including: "VICTORY !! " "Advance of the Union Forces" "A TERRIFIC BLOODY BATTLE." "The Rebel Batteries at Bull's Run Captured" "Union Troops Shelling Manassas Junction!" and much more. These heads take half of the first column.
The reports on Bull Run take the entire front page, and additional heads are found in the 4th and 5th columns.
Eight pages, never-trimmed margins, small binding indents at the blank spine, small library stamp above the masthead, very nice condition.

Item from Catalog 351 (released for February 2025)
