THE OLD WHIG, OR THE CONSISTENT PROTESTANT, London, July 22, 1736
* Very rare publication
* Early 18th century original
This is a very rare title, publishing for only 4 years with various news reports from Europe. A few bits on page 3 include: "...that the governor of Buenos Ayres, with 1000 regular troops and Indians innumerable, had laid siege in form to the new settlement of Holy Sacrament in the West Indies...".
Another item from Lisbon mentions: "...from the Bay of All Saints in South America with news that the Spaniards have committed great hostilities against the Portuguese there; that the governor for the King of Spain at Buenos-Ayres had advanced with 1000 regular troops and a great number of Indians, up to the new Portuguese colony or island of the Holy Sacrament..." with more.
Four pages, full red tax stamp on the front page, never-trimmed margins, very nice condition.
