July 31, 1857

DAILY NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., July 31, 1857  Page 2 has half a column taken up with a report headed: "From Salt Lake City" which is a lengthy & quite detailed report--mostly taken from The Deseret News, concerning the growing tensions and the imminent Mormon War.
Page 2 has: "Utah And the Mormons" with a nearly half column article which includes: "...fresh exposure of the 'Horrors of Mormonism'...one of the European converts to the religion of the Salt Lake became a victim to the delusion in his own country when only 14 years of age. The missionary held up to him a very deceptive picture of the imaginary paradise which awaited him in Utah...What he found in place of it he thus tells us:..." which is a detailed letter. 
There is also over half a column headed: "The Indian Troubles In Minnesota" with a dateline from the Sioux Agency. Quite detailed.
Four pages, large folio size, several small archival mends near the margins, good condition. Folder size noted is for the issue folded in half.
