SAN DIEGO DAILY UNION, California, Nov. 2, 1871 Very early from San Diego--a volume 2 issue--when the population was just 2300, with a nice engraving of the harbor in the masthead.
The front page has: "UTAH" with subheads: "Another Arrest--Prominent Mormons Still at Large--Brigham Goes South".
The report notes: "The wife of Wm. Clayton, who is suing for divorce, has made application for the arrest of Stout, one of the parties charged with the Gates murder... warrant issued for his re-arrest. Several other prominent Mormons under indictment by the Grand Jury, among them Jos. A. Young, are still at large. Brigham is making his way south with an armed escort."
Four pages, 12 by 18 inches, printed on high-quality newsprint, very nice condition.
