Actually a territorial newspaper as New Mexico did not become a state until 1912. Although we've offered many other 19th century newspapers from New Mexico, this is just the second issue of this title and from this town in our 48 years.
Aztec is in the northwestern corner of the state. Very rare as well as the "Union List of American Newspapers" notes only one institution has any issues of this title.
A typical newspaper of the day, four pages, many tears at the folds have been archivally mended, mostly on inside pages. Some minor loss at margins, margin tears, foxing and some dirtiness.
