Electric baseball "scoreboard" for remote "viewing"...
Item # 697220
January 24, 1891
SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN, New York, Jan. 24, 1891 An inside page has a novel new invention headed: "Electrical Sporting Bulletin" which has about half a page of text and two illustrations, one captioned: "Electrical Base Ball Bulletin" and the other: "Diagram of Mechanism & Electrical Connections of the Base Ball Bulletin--Plan View of Double Relay". A portion of the article notes that: "...All the details of the game from beginning to end may be indicated & every feature of play marked upon the board so that the progress of the game can be watched by any one miles away from the base ball grounds. The plays in baseball follow one another so rapidly that the movable parts of the diagram will be constantly changing & the interest will be maintained throughout the entire course of the game..." with much more.
Sixteen pages, some older archival mends to the first several leaves, one to the reverse of the baseball article but not causing any loss. Otherwise good.
