CHICAGO DAILY TRIBUNE, July 28, 1926
* Early Al "Scarface" Capone w/ photo
* Prohibition & great depression
* Best title to be had - rare as such
The front page has a one column heading: "U.S. Al Caponi to Give Up Today" Photo of Capone is on the back page with heading: "Al Caponi surrenders" This is a early and rare to find report on this infamous gangster. Notice how they spell his last name here. Probably only found in a Chicago publication.
When it comes to gangsters, organized crime, and the nefarious activities born out of the Prohibition and Great Depression eras, no city is more in the forefront of our minds than Chicago - and what better newspaper can be found than the Chicago Tribune, self-proclaimed to be "The World's Greatest Newspaper".
Complete with all 32 pages, light toning and some wear at the margins, small hole within the masthead., generally good.
