The front page has a nice banner headline announcing: "GERMANY OPENS WARFARE; Hitler Tells Nazis To Meet Force With Force; 4 Polish Towns Bombed; Blockade Formed" with subheads and map. (see) This marks the beginning of World War II in Europe, the United States not entering the war until the attack upon Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.
