Page 7 begins with a very rare, period report concerning the arrest of infamous stagecoach robber "Black Bart", noted for his poetic messages left after his robberies (see hyperlink for more on him). He was also known as Charles Bolton and C.E. Bolton, and operated primarily in Northern California and Southern Oregon.
The report is uncommonly lengthy, taking 1 1/2 columns, while the only other report we've encountered in recent years was a fraction of this size. The report is headed: "BLACK BART CAUGHT" "Capture of the Stage-Robber Poet--His Twenty-third Exploit" "Idiosyncrasies of a Remarkably Successful Rhyming Highwayman". There are many subheads in this very details report, including: "Advent of the Poet" "Nimble As A Flea" "Capture of Black Bart" "The Identity Established" and more. The photos show only a portion of the full text.
Twelve pages, very nice condition.
It is rare that we find reports concerning Black Bart. Complete in 8 pages, light browning with some margin tears and chipping. Should be handled with care.
