Brigham Young awaits a revelation from God on polygamy...

The bottom of page 4 has a very curious article: "Brigham Young--A New Revelation On Polygamy" which notes: "It is reported that Brigham Young, the Prophet, High Priest and Grand Turk of Great Salt Lake, recently stated, in a conversation with Speaker [of the House of Representatives] Colfax (traveling through Mormondom westward), that polygamy was not an indispensable element of the Mormon faith, and that if he should get a Revelation from the Lord ordering its abolition, he would obey the divine injunction. We rather suspect, however, that the Prophet will first await a revelation from Congress, and that then he will get a revelation from the Lord to move out of Egypt. Brigham, in the visit of Speaker Colfax, began to smell the rat. It is possible that, as Maximilian has proclaimed freedom to all religions in Mexico, the Mormon church will make its next move in that direction."
Eight pages, the first leaf is closely trimmed at the spine margin, otherwise good condition.
