THE LONDON MAGAZINE, England, July, 1777  News reports near the back have just a few items on the Revolutionary War, including: "...As to news I cannot inform you of any except that our grand army is retiring from the Jerseys...". And then "...last advices received from Gen. Howe...he was then in motion with the main body of the army in the Jerseys to attack Philadelphia...that government have not received any dispatches from America & consequently that the various reports of the defeat of Gen. Howe and Lord Cornwallis are without foundation."
Nearly 2 pages are taken up with: "Detached Pieces from Captain Cook's Voyage Round the World" containing reports from Queen Charlotte's Sound (New Zealand), with subheads: ."Cannibals" "Human Sacrifices" and "Otaheite [Tahiti] Women"
The foldout map of Airshire in Southwest Scotland is present. The other plate is lacking.
And of special interest to all us rare newspaper collectors is an article: "On the Antiquity of News-Papers" taking over a full page.
Complete in 48 pages, 5 by 8 1/4 inches, great condition.

Formatted very much like the Gentleman's Magazine but a much more scarce title. The title/contents page features a great engraving of the skyline of London.
