Although over half of the front page is taken up with ads and notices, there is also much reporting on the Civil War, most significantly some great reporting on this historic naval battle between the new iron-clads the Monitor & the Merrimac.
This reporting, which includes a detailed description of "The Iron-Clad Gunboat Monitor" takes about two-thirds of a column.
