BOSTON DAILY JOURNAL, Jan. 11, 1849 Page 2 has several Gold Rush reports under the heading: "California Items" including: "...number of passengers who have already sailed, or are on the point of sailing from this port for California, is 370...are now between 20 and 30 vessels at this port up for California...The state than $2,00,000 worth of the dust was at San Francisco...that excellent order prevails & there had been but two or three petty depredations since operations commenced in the region..." and more.
There is also a nice article: "Admission of California As A State" with much discussion.
Four pages, very light damp stains, good condition.
