NEW YORK HERALD, Oct. 5, 1864
* re. Battle of Fisher's Hill map
* General Jubal Early's retreat
* Shenandoah Valley campaign
The prime feature would be the nice & very large front page Civil War map headed: "EARLY'S LAST POSITION OF DEFENCE, Scene of the Rebel Retreat from the Shenandoah Valley".
Among the various front page one column heads are: "SHERIDAN" "Closing Scene of the Campaign in the Shenandoah Valley" "The Last Decisive Victory--The Last Glorious Triumph" "The Engagement Near Brown's Gap" "The Shenandoah Valley to be Rendered a Barren Waste" "The Movements Since Fisher's Hill Battle" & more.
More war reporting on the inside as well.
Eight pages, minor loss to the upper left corner does not affect text on any page, otherwise nice.
