November 15, 1864

DAILY EXAMINER, Richmond, Nov. 15, 1864

* Newspaper from the Confederate capital
* Reacting to election of President Abraham Lincoln

The most interesting item is an editorial which comments on the recent re-election of Abraham Lincoln, beginning: "It matters but little to us by what frauds, by what force and intimidation, the so-called election in the enemy's country has resulted in giving to that country as its Chief Magistrate for four years longer the same Abraham Lincoln, whose name is now synonymous both with unsparing war upon the South and iron despotism over the North..." and so much more, carrying over to take over a full column of text.
An incredible editorial which shows the hatred of the editor of this Southern newspaper for the leader of the North. See photos for the full text.
As if this great content was not sufficient, also on the same page under "Latest News From the North" gives reports on "The Election" in various states.
There is much reporting on the war as well, including much headed: "Confederate States Congress", and various subheads including: "From New Orleans" "From Missouri" "From the Armies Around Richmond" "The War News" "Sherman and Hood" "From The Shenandoah Valley" and even more.
As was typical of Confederate newspapers in the latter half of the war, this issue is a single sheet with just a one column masthead, to conserve space for news, ads, and legal notices. Folio size and in very nice condition.
