The front page has some great content including: "From General Lee's Army" "From Charleston" which includes a dispatch signed in type: G. T. Beauregard; "The Enemy on James River" "The Attack On Charleston".
Relating to the Battle of Gettysburg is: "Pickett's Division--Its Loss in Officers", noting: "...Pickett's division we gather the following casualties in officers, which is unprecedentedly heavy...". Also "The Wounded in the Pennsylvania Battles" noting: "We learn that General Lee has ordered all the wounded in the Gettysburg battles to be forwarded to Staunton..." and also: "The Gettysburg Prisoners are said to be between Martinsburg & Staunton...".
Still on the front page are: "Telegraphic News--From Jackson, Mississippi" "From Our Army In Maryland" "Fall of Port Hudson" and other smaller items.
The back page has much good material on the Civil War as well including some good reading in the editorial, which has: "The statement that Port Hudson has imitated Vicksburg in an 'unconditional surrender' comes from an enemy in New Orleans...unexpected events have produced...much, though temporary, sadness in the South...Nobody then called Vicksburg a Gibraltar, or considered its occupation as important...the enemy will soon discover that the possession of the towns...do not give him the enjoyment of its navigation...Great things are anticipated from 'cutting the Confederacy in two'..." with much more.

Complete as a single sheet newspaper, typical for Confederate newspapers, and in very nice condition.
