March 11, 1862
NEW YORK TRIBUNE, March 11, 1862 Page 5 contains a full column report which carries over to the back page, headed: "THE NAVAL FIGHT" "Official Report of the Affair" "Fortunate Arrival of the Monitor" "The Damage to the Merrimac" "A Hole Stove In Her Side" and a bit more.
An historic report, as this famous battle ushered in a new era in naval warfare.
This report carries over to take over two columns on the back page with great detail of the battle (see for portions) where also is found a nice engraving headed: "The Ericsson Floating Battery Monitor" with a detailed description of it as well.
As if this content were not sufficient, page 6 contains a Civil War map headed: "The Position Of Brunswick "Georgia" with a related article.
Eight pages, a few discrete archival mends inside, some loss to the right margin of the front leaf affects only page 2 ads, otherwise nice.
