NEW YORK HERALD, Feb. 19, 1861
* Abraham Lincoln inauguration train
* Jefferson Davis inauguration
* Confederate President
The entire front page is taken up with excellent & detailed reporting on Abraham Lincoln's journey to Washington for his inauguration, with first column heads including: "THE PRESIDENTIAL PROGRESS" "The Journey of Mr. Lincoln & Suite from Buffalo to Albany" "The Price of Rails Rides on the Engine" "The Reception at the State Capital" "Immense Turnout to Receive the Great Rail Splitter" "The Address of Welcome & the Replies of Mr. Lincoln "The President Among the Ladies" and more.
Included are at least 3 speeches by Abraham Lincoln, all on the front page.
Page 5 is noteworthy as well containing a stack of heads including: "Inauguration of the President of the Southern Republic" "The South Prepared for Peace of War" "The Inaugural Address of Jefferson Davis" with the full text taking over a column.
Eight pages, never bound nor trimmed, some loss to blank margin on the back two leaves, otherwise nice.
