Almost the entire front page is taken up with a report on the treatment of American captures by the British, with considerable detail.
It begins: "The following is an account of the treatment that the Continental officers, taken in the frigates Hancock and Fox, and lately returned from a six months imprisonment, met with at Halifax...". Much detail.
Page 2 has a lengthy: "...letter from General Sir William Howe to Lord George Germaine..." from Maryland, with much fine war-related content. It begins: "...advised your Lordship of the embarkation of the army at Staten Island...and arrived off the Capes of Delaware...most advisable to proceed to Chesapeake Bay...a corps of the army marched from the ferry to this place...will cross the ferry at Cecil court house...The enemy's army is at this time encamped behind Brandywine Creek...Their force consists of about 15,000 men..." with more.
Then a letter from Lt. Col. St. Ledger to Lt. General Burgoyne which is a fine report on the military events in the north (see the photos).
Page 3 has: "A PROCLAMATION" which takes nearly a full column, signed in type: Henry Clinton. Other war-related content, some of which is seen in the photos provided.
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed with the original margins, great condition.
