The entire front page and part of page 2 are taken up with a great letter on the need to determine a site for the federal government.
A few bits include: "Several writers have lately addressed the public shewing the necessity of speedily fixing on a permanent residence for Congress...All ranks of people throughout this extensive continent are now fully convinced that our federal government ought speedily to be rendered respectable & due care taken to prevent any one state from having an undue influence...Several of the central States now warmly contend for the honour of furnishing a place for the permanent residence of Congress..." with much, much more on this.
Page 3 has a report from Penna. concerning the establishment of public credit. Also a nice letter from Sir Guy Carleton to the President of Congress on his leaving America. A few bits include: "...has brought me final orders for the evacuation of this place...inform Congress of this proof of the perseverance of the Court of Great Britain...that I shall lose no time...in fulfilling his Majesty's commands..." but he is hampered in leaving by some problems, one he notes: "...The violence in the Americans which broke out soon after the cessation of hostilities increased the number of their countrymen to look to me for escape from threatened destruction..." with much more, signed in type: Guy Carleton.
Four pages, archivally rejoined at the spine, some professional restoration with a transparent overlay, nice condition. This newspaper features a very ornate & displayable masthead.
