THE LONDON GAZETTE, England, Sept. 9, 1783
* Treaty of Paris (peace) 1st report
* End of the Revolutionary War
Certainly the most notable content is the very historic front page report, a portion reading: ".....arrived...The Definitive Treaty with the United States of America was also signed at Paris on the 3d instant, by David Hartley, Esq; His Majesty's Plenipotentiary, and by the Plenipotentiaries of the United States; and Mr. Hartley is hourly expected to arrive with it."
This was the first news in an English language newspaper (along with the London Chronicle of the same date) of the signing of the Definitive Treaty of Peace ending the Revolutionary War, which was just signed 6 days previous in Paris.
Terrific to have this report at the very beginning of the front page.
Four pages, 7 3/4 by 11 3/4 inches, very nice condition.
