December 12, 1798
COLUMBIAN CENTINEL, Boston, Dec. 12, 1798
* Lord Horatio Nelson victorious
* Battle of the Nile
* Napoleon Bonaparte
Page 2 begins with nearly two columns of reports detailing the Battle of the Nile, during which Horatio Nelson defeated Napoleon Buonaparte.
Headed: "Further Particulars of the Glorious British Naval Victory" the report takes all of the first column & carries over to column 2, where it is followed by: "On the Landing of the French in Egypt".
The first 15 or so lines have loss of a few letters at the left margin due to being close-trimmed, by the majority of the report has ample margin (see photos).
Page 2 also has a report with mention of George Washington, and yet another item noting: "Lieutenant-General Washington remains at Philadelphia to animate his fellow citizens by his presence at his posts of duty, & to strengthen government by his advice & information."
Four pages, minor printing flaw at the top of column 1 of page 2, the mentioned close-trimming to the top portion of the margin, good condition.
