October 16, 1777

THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Oct. 16, 1777  Inside has a full column of news from America, including: "...Brigadier-general Campbell has reported...a body of above 2000 having landed on Staten Island...marched against them with the 52nd regiment...had defeated them with great slaughter & entirely driven them off the island..." & more.
There is a note from Boston: "We have borne till we can bear no longer; Therefore all the true Sons of Liberty in this town are desired to meet...at the ringing of the bells, on Cop's hill, there to determine what measures are best to be taken by monopolizers & others who now withhold the necessaries of life from public sale; as we are determined no longer to be trifled with by those common enemies of God and man." with a follow-up response.
The back page has a brief note that: "...says Dr. Franklin proposes to set out soon for Berlin."
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 inches, a few very small red ink notations at margins, great condition.
