July 28, 1803

BOSTON GAZETTE, July 28, 1803  Page 2 has a report headed: "Louisiana" which mentions: "...the Hon. Mr. King...address a letter to Lord Hawkesbury in which he states, 'that the complete Sovereignty of the town and territory of New Orleans, as well as all Louisiana, as the same was heretofore possessed by Spain, has been acquired by the U.S. of America; and that in drawing up the Treaty care has been taken so to frame the same as not to infringe any right of Great Britain in the navigation of the river Mississippi."
