December 16, 1746
THE DAILY GAZETTEER, OR LONDON ADVERTISER, England, December 11, 1746 The phrase: "A Vigorous War, or Glorious Peace" is boldly printed in the middle of the masthead. An interesting newspaper from this pivotal year of the Jacobite Rebellion. The back page has a brief yet notable report: "It is said the Lord Lovat will this day be impeached of High Treason at the Bar of the House of Lords, by Sir Wm. Y------ge. We hear that Lord Lovat's son is bringing to London, from Scotland, and will be tried for High Treason soon after his arrival."
Simon Fraser, 11th Lord Lovat, was defeated at the historic Battle of Culloden and was a key figure in the Jacobite Rebellion.
Single sheet, folio-size, 10 1/2 by 17 1/4 inches, some loss at the bottom and right margins affecting a bit of text, otherwise good.
