AMERICAN SOCIALIST, Oneida, New York, July 13, 1876

* General George Custer
* Battle of Little Bighorn
* Mark Twain - Samuel Clemens

Page 7 has: "Summary Of News" which includes a very brief & inconspicuous report on the Custer massacre: "The disastrous fight between Gen. Custer's command & the Sioux Indians on June 25th resulted in the death of Gen. Custer, together with 13 officers and from 200 to 300 men." Also a report of the death of Gen. Santa Anna, and of notification of Gov. Hayes published letter of acceptance of the Republican nomination, and mention of the Missouri Pacific Railroad train robbery (committed by Jesse James & his gang)..  Another article begins: "Competism killed Gen. Custer and his three hundred..." with more (see).
A report headed: "New Story by Mark Twain" [from his book recently published in London]..." is about Tom Sawyer.
Eight pages, a few light stains, a few small binding holes along the spine, generally nice.
