NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., Nov. 25, 1837 The back page has a lengthy letter from the Mayor of Alton, Illinois, written the day after the murder of famed abolitionist Elijah Lovejoy, with much reflection on the events. 
Following his letter are 8 other reports concerning Lovejoy's death as printed in other newspapers.
