LOS ANGELES TIMES, May 2, 1998

* Death of Eldridge Cleaver
* From Black Panther to Mormon environmental & peace activist

The front page has: "Eldridge Cleaver, Former Black Panther, Dies", which tells of the life and death of the notable activist and author of "Soul On Ice" (considered a seminal work in African-American literature). The article continues on page A20 and includes multiple photos and considerable details of his involvement/leadership in the Black Panthers, followed by his spiritual journey which led him to renounce his past life and become an advocate for peace and environmental issues. Although not present in the issue, the New York Times once referred to him as an: "Old Con, Black Panther, Brilliant Writer and Quintessential American."
The opposing page has the unrelated, but interesting obituary of Bruce Springsteen's father: "Douglas Springsteen, Father of Famed Singer".
Offered are the Front, Valley, Sports, Calendar and Business Sections, a slightly rough left spine, but overall in very good condition.
