The front page has a report on the Battle of San Jacinto with a small  heading: "Texas"  concerning the murder of Mexicans at the battle of San Jacinto by the Texas troops.
It begins: "The battle lasted 19 minutes and then commenced the rout and slaughter. The poor devils of Mexicans would hold up their hands, cross themselves, and sing out 'me no Alamo' but nothing could say e them; they blood of our countrymen was too fresh in the memory of our people to let one Mexican escape until worn down with pursuit and slaughter, they commenced making prisoners..." with more. Also mentioned is: "...Santa Anna was furnished with a fresh horse on which he escaped ten miles further and was taken next day in disguise...Santa Anna was not recognized until presented to General Houston...With Santa Anna all his staff were taken or killed...There never was so complete a defeat with so little loss on one side...The Mexican dead were served around for ten miles...".
Page 3 has another nice report: "Still Later from Texas" with follow-up on the Battle of San Jacinto, and more. Bits include: "...that as Gen. Santa Anna was a prisoner, he did not acknowledge him as general of the forces...but would recognize him as President of the Mexican nation...He said he had no doubt but Congress would acknowledge the independence of Texas, for it was a country the Mexican people did not want...He acknowledged that the present campaign in Texas had terminated to the greater disgrace of Mexico---That the cruel massacre of Colonel Fanning's division was unjustifiable..." and more.
