Item # 678529
June 20, 1882
BLACK HILLS DAILY PIONEER, Deadwood City, Black Hills, April 28, 1877 This town would arguably be--along with Tombstone & Dodge City--one of the more famous of all the towns from the rough & tumble days of the Old West, and only rarely do such issues come to light. Plus, this is a volume 1 issue.
This issue is from the "heyday" of the Wild West. Some of the most celebrated names of the Old West passed through Deadwood, not the least of whom was "Wild Bill" Hickok, who was famously murdered in this town just 8 months previous.
Various news items of the day under heading: "Nevada Notions" "Montana Memorandums" "Utah Units" & "Colorado Capitulations", and an article: "Jumping of Property & Its Consequences" mentions a shoot-out over a dispute; and a full column of "Mining Items" from the locality.
Four pages with the many ads having a decidedly "western" theme. Never bound nor trimmed, a few small archival mends near margins, and a tiny wear hole at a fold juncture. Generally in very nice condition
