WEEKLY NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., Dec. 26, 1846 

* New home of the Mormons ? - settling

The entire front page is train up with editorial commentary on: "The President's Message", meaning his state-of-the-union address of 1846.
Page 2 has much reporting on events in Congress with subheads including: "Admission of the State of Iowa" "Santa Anna" "President's Annual Message" and more. Page 3 has: "Later From the Army--Anticipated Movements of Gen. Taylor--Loss of the Steamer Sea--Further from Gen. Wood--Reported Capture of a Wagon Train, etc." with lengthy reporting.
The back page is almost entirely taken up with various documents relating to the possession of California by the U.S., to be defined in the treaty ending the Mexican War, photos showing only a small portion.
One of the letters notes in part: "...It is known that a large body of Mormon emigrants are en route to California for the purposes of settling in that country..." with more on this.
Four pages, archivally strengthened at the blank spine, nice condition.
