THE DALLAS TIMES HERALD, Texas, Nov. 22, 1963
* Same day of JFK's assassination
Being an afternoon newspaper this newspaper did report the assassination of John F. Kennedy in its 2nd and 3rd editions. This is the first edition which hit the streets before the news, with the front page headlines reflected the joy of having the President visit.
The banner headline announces: "Texas Progress, U.S. Projects Linked, JRK Tells Fort Worth" "and subheads: "Ovations Greet Touring Kennedy" "Texans Greet Their President" and more, with a large front page photo of a jubilant crowd greeting him at Fort Worth. Fort Worth was the President's last stop before Dallas.
The ftpg. also has an ironic headline: "Secret Service Sure All Secure" which begins: "The only security item that wasn't investigated in preparation for President Kennedy's visit to Dallas Friday was literally the air the President and Mrs. Kennedy would breathe..." with much more on the great security checks made on their visit.
This Dallas issue of Nov. 22 is not one which would have been saved & is consequently quite scarce, and would be an excellent companion issue to the more famous Nov. 22 edition.
The complete first (of 3) section with pages 1-22, nice condition.
