Page 9 has one column headings: "NAVAJO CODE TALK KEPT FOE GUESSING" "Indians With Marines, Using Rare Native Tongue, Insured Secrecy of Messages" Rare coverage on the use of this secret code in the Pacific Theater during world War II. This is the only mention of these Island Indians during this time in the New York Times.
Forty-four pages, various cutouts throughout but none on the front page nor page 9, light toning at the margins, sold as is.
