March 01, 1797

NEW YORK MAGAZINE OR LITERARY REPOSITORY, March, 1797  The most notable report is near the back being a fine account of the: "Presidential Inauguration" with good derail. This is followed by: "Speech" being John Adams's inaugural address taking nearly 3 pages.
This is followed by: "After concluding his speech, the President descended from his seat to receive his oath of office form the Chief Justice, which includes the text of the oath, beginning: "I  do solemnly swear, that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States..."
Then a report of the oath taken by the Vice President, Thomas Jefferson, which includes his inaugural speech as well
Among the articles are: "Memoirs of General Wayne" taking over a full page (plate lacking).
Among news reporters near the back is a fine account of the: "...description of the heads of the frigates United States and Constellation...", being  very descriptive. Other news reports as well.
Certainly one of the less common 18th century American magazine titles, existing from just 1790 to 1797.
No plates are present.
Complete in 56 pages, lacking a full title/contents page, 5 by 8 inches, very minor foxing, good condition.
