Friendly address to the Jews... Capitulation of Guadalupe...



Item # 676665 THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, June, 1759  Among the articles are a continued: "Life of Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotland" "Friendly Address to the Jews" which takes a full page; "Articles of Capitulation between their Excellencies & the Inhabitants of Guadelupe, etc." and "Gazette Account of the Taking of Guadaloupe" which takes more than a full page.
The full page plate present is a: "Representation of a Bishop in the Act of Martyrdom" which has a related article. Lacking is the map of Guadalupe.
Complete in 52 pages with full title/contents page featuring an engraving of St. John's Gate,  5 by 8 1/4 inches,  very nice condition.

A very nice magazine from the late 18th century with a wide range of varied content. This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
