The Abraham Lincoln funeral...
Item # 675993
April 19, 1865
NEW YORK TIMES, April 19, 1865 A great issue, as the front page is entirely taken up with reports on the funeral of President Abraham Lincoln as well as some closing reports on the Civil War.
Front page heads include: "THE ASSASSINATION" "The Last Marks of Respect to Our Late President" "Immense Throng to Visit the Remains" "Preparations for the Funeral" "Arrest of the would-be Murderer of Mr. Seward" with more on the inside pages as well, including: "The Day of Mourning" "The Mourning of the Slaves" "A Speech by President Johnson" "Surrender of Gen. Lee" and more.
Complete in 8 pages, never bound nor trimmed (desired and less common) with all columns on all pages black-bordered in mourning for Lincoln. Minimal rubbing at the fold and minimal wear at the margins. Good condition, and nice to have this report in the venerable New York Times.
