THE FLORIDIAN, Tallahassee, Florida, August 5, 1848

* Rare antebellum title
* 3 Acts signed by James Polk

Nineteenth century newspapers from Florida are uncommon, particularly those from before the Civil War. Here is such an issue from the capital city of Florida, three years before the Civil War.
The ftpg. has 3 Acts of Congress, one of which is signed by the President: James Polk. Over two ftpg. columns are taken up with "The Votes of Millard Fillmore on Slavery...". Other ftpg. items include: "Mr. Fillmore an Anti-Mason" "Mr. Cass on Temperance" & inside has: "Taylor Blarney" "Gen. Taylor and the Wilmot Proviso" "Cass On Slavery Question" "The Veto" and much more. Pg. 2 includes an ad supporting "Gen. Lewis Cass" for President of the U.S. (see).
The bkpg. is filled with ads, many of which are illustrated. Four pages, very nice condition.
