Battle with the Indians at Fort Kearney...

Item # 675664

April 19, 1867

NEW YORK WEEKLY TRIBUNE, April 10, 1867

* Fort Buford massacre hoax

The years following the Civil War were years of expansion west, causing the inevitable conflict with the Native American tribes. Such reports were not uncommon in period newspapers. This is one such issue.
The front page has: "The Indians" with a few bits noting: "...that the reported massacre at Fort Buford is not credited there...from Arizona Territory say that the Apache Indians had attacked the men in charge of the Money mine...The savages were well armed with guns and rifles...contain the following account of the Fort Phil Kearney massacre...They, the Sioux, were about 2,000 strong, all warriors..." with more on this battle. Other fine content as well.
Eight pages, very nice condition.

Item from Catalog 313 (released for December, 2021)...
