WILKES' SPIRIT OF THE TIMES, New York, Oct. 6, 1860 Basically a sports-themed newspaper. Although we typically list this title for the early baseball content, the print content of this issue is the rather large front page print of: "The Race Between Planet and Congaree, Fashion Course, N.Y." Both were famous horses of the day, but perhaps Planet more so. The New York Times had an extensive report of this race.
There is baseball content as well with over a full column with detailed reporting on four games.
Complete in 16 pages, decorative masthead, foxing is mostly near the margins, generally good.
