THE WHEELING INTELLIGENCER, West Virginia, Sept. 8, 1876

* Famous Jesse James gang robbery
* Northfield, Minnesota bank

The top of the ftpg. has column heads: "Bold Attempt to Rob a Bank--The Cashier Murdered and His Assistant Wounded--Two of the Robbers Killed and One Wounded". This is a report of the Northfield Bank Robbery in Minnesota committed by Jesse James and his James-Younger Gang, although this report was too new for them to have known who the robbers were. Near the end: "...the robbers were only 25 minutes ahead of the pursuers & almost sure to be overtaken...many believing them to be the same gang heretofore operating in Missouri and Kansas."
Four pages, some wear at the margins, bit of very light damp staining, generally good condition.
