Item # 674453
September 21, 1881
THE CLEVELAND HERALD, Ohio, Sept. 21, 1881
* President James S. Garfield death
* Best title to be had ?
The top of the front page features a nice portrait headed: "James A. Garfield" who was assassinated some weeks prior and died on Sept. 19. First column heads relate to his death and the news from across the country, the stack taking nearly three-quarters of the first column (see). Nice to have this report in a newspaper from Garfield's home state, and not far from his home in Mentor, Ohio.
Eight pages, never bound, black borders on all pages, two folds with wear and some perforation at the horizontal fold with a hole at the fold juncture, small tears at the margins, and various archival mends to support perforations. See images for details. Priced according to condition.
