THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, July 31, 1783  The front page has the formal letter from Col. Deveaux to  Sir Guy Carleton, dated from the Bahamas, announcing that it has been captured from the Spanish.
The Capture of the Bahamas took place late in the Revolutionary War, when a Loyalist expedition under the command of Andrew Deveaux set out to retake the Bahamas from the Spanish. The expedition was successful and Nassau fell without a shot being fired.
The back page has a brief item noting in part: "...We have the American newspapers...and they continue to be filled with resolutions against the Loyalists." Another article illustrates the troubles involved in buying land in America just after the end of the war.
Eight pages, 8 1/4 by 11 inches, nice condition.
