COLUMBIAN MINERVA, Dedham, Massachusetts, March 17, 1801  Page 2 has two has a notable letter signed in type: Thomas Jefferson, sent to the Senate, uponhis leaving as President of the Senate to become the President of the United States. It begins: "...I now propose to retire from the chair of the Senate...". This is followed by the response of the Senate.
Following this is a preface to his inaugural address, noting: "This day at 12 o'clock, THOMAS JEFFERSON, President of the United States, took the oath of office in the Senate Chamber...Previously to which he delivered the following Address:..." and what follows is Jefferson's inaugural Address, signed by him in type: Thomas Jefferson, carrying over to page 3.
This is then followed by a report concerning the arrival of new Vice President Aaron Burr.
Four pages, archivally rejoined at the spine, somewhat irregular at the margins, some damp staining and foxing.
