* re. Revolutionary War ending in peace
Inside has one-third of a page taken up with the: "Copy of the Commission of the United States of America, to John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, Henry Laurens, and Thomas Jefferson, Esqrs. June 15, 1781."
The document--signed in type by the President & Secretary of Congress--formally appoints these men as ambassadors in Europe to negotiate for a peace to end the Revolutionary War.
Eight pages, never bound nor trimmed, 9 by 12 inches, foxing mostly near the margins, generally good.
