THE ROANOKE TIMES, Virginia, April 22, 1943  The front page has a banner headline: "JAPS EXECUTE U.S. AVIATORS" with subhead: "Some Of Eight Captured After Raid Are Slain" "Other Captives Being Treated As Criminals" "Roosevelt Announces Japanese Action; Arnold Calls on U.S. Fliers to Utterly Destroy Enemy; Tokyo Refuses to Give Names of Slain, Charges Non-Military Bombing".
This was the result of the famous Jimmy Doolittle raid over Tokyo in 1942. Of the 80 crew members, 77 survived the mission. Eight airmen were captured by Japanese Army troops in China, of which three were later executed.
Complete in 14 pages, good condition.
