HOSPITAL REGISTER, West Philadelphia, Oct. 17, 1863 This was essentially an in-house newspaper produced at and for the people at the Satterlee U.S. Army General Hospital in Philadelphia. It was the largest Union Army hospital during the Civil War.
It features a very nice & ornate masthead engraving showing the hospital and well as vignettes, one showing patients in beds. It lasted just over two years from Feb., 1863 through April, 1865.
Most of page 3 is taken up with a directory of the staff at the hospital, as well as a name list of those admitted.
Four pages, a postal cancellation in an upper corner of the front page, wide margins, 11 by 15 1/2 inches, nice condition.
